No matter what configuration you pick, this pack has been specifically designed to provide superior survival and first aid items that are 1) high-quality, 2) affordably priced, and 3) compact and lightweight. Make sure that you have a SURVIVAL KIT instead of a SECURITY BLANKET!
Note: Most products have a link to a page dedicated to that product. We strongly suggest that you look at each item individually and watch any associated videos to get all the information necessary to make an informed decision.
a Compact Assault Bag from Condor Outdoor: military-style MOLLE (“Molly”; MOdular Lightweight Load-bearing Equipment) backpack w/ hydration bladder pouch - made of sturdy cordura construction, and with 1362 cu. in. of interior space, there's plenty of room to hold any extra gear you want to bring along! (Main Compartment: 18"x10"x5", Middle Compartment: 15"x8"x2", Front Top: 4"x7"x2.5", Front Bottom: 10"x8"x2.5"; also has interior pockets for organization)
a fisheye compass – check it often to keep from getting lost in the first place!
a 3 pack YoYo Automatic Fishing Reel w/ Fishing Kit – does your food gathering for you; keeps tension on the line so the fishies don’t escape with your bait! Includes multiple hooks, sinkers, swivel snaps, and 10 feet of 60 lb. test nylon line.
a 30 count bottle of LifeCaps – a survival pill that gives your body all the vitamins it needs to more easily process your own body fat; allows you to keep a clear head while you take the time to locate water, set up a good shelter and fire, and then work on gathering food
a hard anondized aluminum Space Saver Mug– superlight and large enough to pack other gear in, so it takes up virtually no extra room, but provides you with a durable container to cook and/or boil water in
a Pocket Chainsaw – can cut through a 3” branch in less than 10 seconds and won’t break like a cheap wire saw
a Sparkie from Ultimate Survival Technologies - maximize your firestarting efforts by literally showering your tinder in sparks!
a BlastMatch, also from UST - the Sparkie's big brother!
Your choice of Shelter Options:
a S.O.L. Escape Bivvy – way better than a mylar “space blanket”, this is an actual bag that won’t fly off in the wind, won’t easily tear into shreds, won’t keep you up all night with crinkly noises, won’t build up moisture, and weighs in at a miserly 8.5 ounces!
a Blizzard Survival Sleeping Bag - incredibly compact, but incredibly effective at maintaining your body temperature, even at sub-freezing temperatures!
your choice of illumination:
a Princeton Tec Fuel headlamp – not only a long lasting light source, but on strobe mode (up to 96 hours burn time!) it can be a night-time signal for Search and Rescue teams that doesn’t require your active efforts. Just place it in a spot visible from the air and go to sleep; you could be rescued before morning!
an EcoCharge Solar Pull Flashlight - a simple LED flashlight that can recharge via the solar panel in the handle or by using a pull-string dynamo, so you never have to worry about running out of batteries! Even better, the rechargeable Li-Ion battery can be taken out and replaced, so you don't have to throw the whole flashlight away when the battery eventually stops taking a charge.
Finally, you have the option of rounding out your shelter options by adding some rain gear:
a GI Style Rip-Stop Nylon Poncho - much more durable than a cheap plastic poncho and the corners have metal grommets so you can use it for a leanto in a pinch
a Hooded All Weather Blanket - another reflective item, but built as sturdy as a tarp and easy to use as an extra layer to keep off moisture!
Depending upon the combination chosen, you could save about 25%-30% off of the MSRP and about 15%-20% off of sale prices that I’ve personally found on competitor’s websites (taking into account the inflated shipping and “handling” that they’ll charge you to make up for some unrealistically low prices). All in all, I can't imagine you finding as good or better a price for as good or better equipment!
